so many great activities/events going on, i had a hard time picking highlights; make sure to check out what else is going on THIS WEEK!



MONDAY 11/29:

a family affair treeview. noon-8pm.

westin grand ballroom, westin seattle hotel. 1900 5th ave.

free. all ages. view 17 designer-decorated christmas trees.

also demonstrations and craft activities, balloon man, complimentary tully’s coffee and other refreshments, pictures with santa, live choir, theater, ballet performances, and more!


TUESDAY 11/30:

slates’ “culture gabfest” live. 6-7:30pm.

great hall, town hall. 1119 8th ave.

free, registration required. “culture gabfest” will be recording (their first west coast) live podcast featuring critics dana stevens, julia turner, and stephen metcalf discussing/debating contemporary culture.


WEDNESDAY 12/01: hanukkah begins, world aids day.

“an evening of seattle tree stories.” 7pm.

the chapel, good shepherd center. 4649 sunnyside ave n.

free. all ages. preview the documentary “treestory” film, storytelling, music, art, poetry and spoken word (and much more!) all celebrating trees!



first thursday of the month!

there are a number of seattle museums that are free today!


FRIDAY 12/03:

17th annual “holiday magic 2010.” 3-9pm.

free. all ages. queen anne ave, upper queen anne.

tree lighting, entertainment, special shopping discounts, music, prize drawings, food and wine, santa, and more!


great figgy pudding street corner caroling competition. 5-8:30pm.

free, all ages to watch! westlake park/center and downtown seattle.

entertainment, competitions and more! in its 24th year, the competition benefits the pike place market senior center and downtown food bank.



multicultural holiday arts and craft fair. 10-4pm.

free. all ages. st. peter’s episcopal church. 1610 s. king st.

bake sale, raffle, japanese treats like mochi and manju, local artists, books, holiday ornaments, and more!


benefit concert for the andy kotowicz family. doors 7pm.

$20 (no additional fees). all ages. showbox market. 1426 1st ave.

wolf eyes, fruit bats, michael yonkers, mudhoney, shabazz palaces, vetiver, and more! benefits the andy kotowicz foundation.


*UPDATE: SOLD OUT!* “redhook’s rad winter party.” doors 8pm.

$10. 21+. the crocodile. 2200 2nd ave.

fee includes entry, two drink tickets, a special holiday gift, musical  performance by blue scholars.


SUNDAY 12/05:

30th annual winter festival and crafts fair. 10-5pm.

phinney neighborhood center. 6532 phinney ave n.

$4 general adm. + can of food. all ages. bake sale, live entertainment, raffle (drawing at 4pm), lunch food for sale, over 100 craft booths, and more!


urban craft uprising winter show 2010. 11-5pm.

free. all ages. exhibition hall, seattle center.

seattl’e largest indie craft show! swag bags for the first 100 people, hourly giveaways, over 100 vendors, craft demonstrations, and more! this is a great place to get unique, handmade holiday gifts!
