free (entry). 21+. hosted by the washington bus. they’ll be playing obama’s state of the union, happy hour is 3-7pm ($3 wells, $1 off beer), if you show your student id you get happy hour discounts all night!

vera project’s 10th birthday. 7pm.

vera project, seattle center.

free. all ages. kickoff for vera’s birthday week; photo exhibit chronically the last ten years at the vera project (shows, events, etc.), drinks, cake, and more!

the a.w.a.r.d. show! 8pm.

on the boards. 100 w. roy st.

$15. all ages. a dance competition with an audience and panel voting process; 12 contemporary dancers will perform/compete for $10,000. four different performers for each show (thur-sun).

SATURDAY 01/29:

lunar new year celebration 2011 year of the rabbit. 11-4pm.

hing hay park. 423 maynard ave s. chinatown/international district.

free. all ages. entertainment (lion and dragon dance, taiko drumming, costume contest, chinese martial arts), scavenger hunt, $2 tasting menu from local restaurants, cultural activities and games, and more!

cocktails and cabaret. 8:30pm-1am.

west hall, oddfellows building. 915 e. pine st.

$10. 21+. presented by sister kate. cocktail attire strongly encouraged. drinks, raffle prizes, performances start at 9:30pm, live music (by the careless lovers) and dancing after the show.

“around the market in 80 minutes” scavenger hunt. 11-4pm.

free. all ages. check in under the market clock, pike place market.

beard and stache fest kick off party. 8-10pm.

free. 21+. kick off party to celebrate the 2nd annual beard and stache fest! this is the only time you’ll see all 100 donation cans in one place.
